So is there a concept behind this album?

Bear with me.
I first read John Irving's "Almost To Iowa" when i was 16. I remember feeling as if someone hit me with a sledgehammer by the time i was finished.
I must have read it a hundred times in the years following, searching for sub-textual clues and hidden meanings -
It was an enigmatic, deeply allegoric story about conviction, honesty and guilt and it connected with every fiber of my teenage being.

It was about a decade later that i first read the author's commentary -
wherein Irving admits to hating the story; he finds it 'loathsomely cute' and arguably, condescending.
For him, it is a story about divorce, and doesn't even do well in that regard.

I think good stories, like any good art, are ones that let you decide what they're about - that let you fill in the subtext and straight-out blanks, that challenge you to feel rather than chewing your food-for-thought for you.

Of course this album has a concept, and a story, but they are mine and so, expressing them would defeat their purpose.
